Oat Milk Recipe

More people are now drinking plant-based milks whether it’s switching completely or swapping occasionally, either way we know this is better for the planet.

We used to buy oat milk but hated throwing the Tetra Paks away and I question the reliability of manufacturers so now I make my own.

I’m often asked for my oat milk recipe; so here it is.

Makes 2 litres

Ingredients
240g porridge oats (preferably organic)
35g light Muscovado sugar / caster sugar / dates – whatever you prefer to sweeten your milk
pinch of salt

When making this recipe for the first time, I recommend making only 500ml in case you don’t like it! –
60g porridge oats
9g light Muscovado sugar / caster sugar / dates – whatever you prefer to sweeten your milk
tiny pinch of salt
250ml cold water (and extra to make liquid up to 500ml)

Equipment
Food blender
Fine sieve
Muslin cloth
Large measuring jug
2ltr fridge jug ( It is handy to have 2 jugs if you are going to make this all of the time)

1 litre homemade oat milk
Vegan Acidophilus capsules ( Available from wholefood shops)

What do do with those oats?
